I was in the army for eleven years three of which I spent in the First Cavalry Division Horse Detachment. The 1CD Horse detachment is unique among the active duty horse units in that it makes all its own equipment. It’s there that I learned to work with leather while working in the HCD’s leather shop. I made and maintained 1885 model McClellan saddles and all the equipment that goes with them. I found a passion for leather work in general and have decided to pursue it full time, all items are hand made to order.
